Prince Humorabi of Plusopotamy Photoshop December 2008
This is cover page for Ivan Balenovic book "Prince Humorabi of Plusopotamy". It is in fact, cover page, chin and back side of the book (therefore gaps in composition for titles and description text).
At the cover page are Humorabi, Urma and Tasel, three young heroes traveling the imaginary pseudo-world of middle east, meeting strange lands (and their kings!)
Book is considered children-book, therefore warm and colorful style. Prince name Humorabi is allusion - but opposite to - Hammurabi, the Persian ruler. It is author allusion also on Humor+rabbi, Teacher of Humor (brightness of life), so therefore his shiny smile.
World they are coming through is not standard orc-elf universe, but lands of strange kings and kingdoms (strange in their customs but also in appearance).
On the cover page they are running through the Valley of Kings, a swamp where thrown rulers of the kingdom are fighting between themselves in envy and anger. The guy after our fellowship is Skrgutin, their "leader" (they have no leader, they are anarchist mob) with stone crown.
It was Photoshop (total paint over scanned line drawing), about 40 hours of work.
I also did 10 inside ilustrations of the book, ill post them in portfolio.
